Newly-concreted Barangiran – Dado provincial road in Alamada now fully operational By Jimmy Sta. Cruz PGO Media Center ALAMADA, Cotabato (Oct 1) – A 170-meter road project connecting Barangay Barangiran and Barangay Dado in Alamada, Cotabato is now fully operational after a formal turnover ceremony of the concreting project on Sep. 21, 2014 was spearheaded by no less than Gov. Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza. The road concreting and downgrading of the portion of the road in Sitio Linganed is the first phase of the project and the second phase comes with a box culvert in one portion and concreting, guardrail and embankment and rip-rapping is a major road improvement. Funded by the Provincial Government of Cotabato, the Barangiran-Dado road concreting is a component of the infrastructure projects implemented by the Office of the Provincial Engineer this year. Six nearby villages use the Barangiran-Dado provincial road namely – Raradangan, Macabasa, Pigcawaran, Barangiran, Lower Dado and Upper Dado where people pass there to go to schools and transport their farm products. Calixtro P. Villarta, Chairman of Barangiran village along with other barangay officials organized a simple program at Purok 5, Barangiran highlighted by the ceremonial ribbon-cutting led by Gov. Taliño-Mendoza. Villarta said that the road is prone to accidents because of its difficult terrain but with the downgrading and concreting of the portion of the road people are now safe and travel comfortably. “We are fortunate to receive this project from the Provincial Government of Cotabato. The days of enduring the rough road especially during rainy days were we had to endure the muddy and slippery road are over now”, Villarta said. Cotabato 1st District Board Member Loreto Cabaya, Jr., Municipal Mayor Virginia Concepcion, Chairman Villarta and the Barangay Councilors of Barangiran assisted Gov. Taliño-Mendoza during the program’s ceremonial ribbon-cutting and turnover. In her message, Gov. Taliño-Mendoza said that her administration’s priority to bring the government closer to the people by delivery of basic services like the road concreting project implemented in BarangiranDado, Alamada. “It is our mandate to serve the people and see to it that each community avails of the developmental programs and projects of the Provincial Government of Cotabato”, the governor said. She then appealed to the local officials and constituents of Barangay Barangiran to continue to support the provincial government in its initiatives to uplift the living condition of the people.
