No10 in the 12 days of Christmas songs Christmas Countdown is Enya with the Little Drummer Boy. I love Enyas work. the softness and magic she exudes is quite simply stunning and the quality of her work is brilliantly superb. I rarely go past a week without listening to one of her songs. This one in particular reminds me of Christmases when I was a youngster. There was a definite smell and feel about Winter when it came and this song takes me back there every time. I remember the wonderful smell and taste when opening the first Tangerine because back then Tangerines were only available in Winter and that made them special. I remember the first ice on the duckpond at the park and the frosty mornings when everything glistened. I recall sledging on the golf course with the sledge my dad had built at his work. I remember my mum rubbing my hands to get them warm when we had stayed out too long in the snow. I remember the friends I had and the snowmen and snowball fights we used to have. I remember counting the lit christmas trees in the windows of peoples houses and the shop windows all done up for Christmas. This song brings all those special memories back. I love it.
