Ok so today, I received a common question I get messaged via social networking as to why my online name is The Perkisystem. Short answer - I like the movie Heavyweight and thought the name was cool. Long answer - Heavyweights is one of my all-time favorite movies! Its about fat kids, and Im a fat kid, and these fat kids get to be themselves. Then theyre pressured to be skinny kids, but instead of bending to societal demands, they persevere as fat kids. The real message is to be yourself, no matter what. I dont condone childhood obesity, or any obesity really, but if you want to be a fat glutton, then be a fat glutton, and understand the consequences that go with it. Freedom of expression, freedom from persecution, freedom of choice, or just freedom. Be yourself. Thats it. Now, as to why my name is The Perkisystem, its structure that Ive been surrounded by all my life through private school, military, and the like, and I enjoy pushing the limits and boundaries of them. Its familiar to me, and I also enjoyed Ben Stillers performance as Tony Perkis. Explanation and rant over. Carry on, and thank you for your time.
