On 6th October 2008 we watched agonisingly as her life support was turned off by her parents. Minutes before her auntie, was appointed her godmother by the duty priest because we all knew time was running out. Ellie-Mai OGorman was born on 7th August 2008 weighing just 5lb 2oz. She was tiny but had a Mohegan dark curl through the centre of her hair that made her instantly adorable. 30th September 2008, her parents noticed a rash, meningitis was becoming renounced so they got scared. Worried they took the Royal Bolton Hospital. The doctors diagnoses meningocccal septicaemia. She was transferred to Pendlebury Childrens Hospital. Her condition worsened rapidly and she was placed one dependent life support. She was given 12 hours to live. Family members were shocked, distraught, in utter disbelief that this could be so serious so quickly. Ellie-Mai always had support from a close family. Not a moment went by where she suffered alone. 24 hours a day there was always support. The doctors expected little hope. She fought strongly through the first night giving hope to us all. Despite intense treatment tiny Ellie-Mai fought against all odds. She fought for 7 long days. Her fragile body swollen to more tan double her normal size. It was clear she wasnt strong enough. The horrific decision was made that day, to turn off her life support. Wed all grown more positive over the days and nights she fought. Enough notice was given to loved ones to come and say a final goodbye. Ellie-Mai was christened by a priest with elected godparents present. Her life support was turned off and she rested shortly afterwards and drifted to heaven. Ellie-Mai had a magnificent support network until her last breath. We all said our goodbyes in our own special ways. Her funeral was a sad day. Despite hundreds flooding the church, the spirit remained as high as possible. Every single male wore pink tie and in honour of her short life. Her tiny coffin was lowered and without word but out of pure respect every male there untied their pink tie and dared it on her lowering coffin. Ellie-Mai remains strongly in our hearts. Her father is skydiving in honour of her with me, her uncle on 20th July 2015. We hope to raise over £1000, please find it in your hearts to help others. https://justgiving/John-Millington1/
