One year ago today I made a decision that changed the course I was going down. I was in a really horrible place. Doing anything I could to get my fix. I needed a change. I was not going to end up like so many others have. I spent last Thanksgiving on my parents house Detoxing on there couch. Spent nine days their feeling like I was dying. I felt like every bone in my body wanted to jump out and slap me in the face. Then after I felt good enough I checked into treatment again. Not exactly what I thought it would be but it helped me get a few months under my belt. Got a sponsor. Went to meetings daily. Got into a training program. Learned how to cook. Got off the streets. Found life long friends in a city that is very new to me. Got a job. First real one in many years. Finally got out of the homeless state and got an apartment. Its crazy how much life can change in a year. So today Im grateful to God. For his will to show me the path that Im on. And for everyone that stood by and encouraged me. I have found who I am and I love myself today.
