Only in Selma. Its a statement that boils my blood. Its usually can be heard after someone learns of an act of hate or pointless drama, or ugly rumors. First let me clarify that its not only in Selma. Most cities/towns just dont have as many residents willing to degrade their hometown or put it in such a negative spotlight with such a statement. I also hear of how poor or bad Selma is and how those who dont live here feel sorry for us that do because we lack opportunity. Let me give you a little glimpse into our poor city with no opportunities. Only in Selma have I seen hundreds gather in prayer for my daughters and me after a horrible car accident. Only in Selma did I watch hundreds band together to provide love, support and strength to my cousins as their baby girl fought for her life in Childrens hospital. Only in Selma did I again get to witness an entire city/town/community do all we could to be there for a childhood friend of mine as her husband fought a brave battle with cancer. Only in Selma do I feel blessed to know some of the most selfless people willing to do anything they can to help in times of need. So, please dont feel sorry for my poor family. We choose to live here where i feel people are willing to become even more poor in order to help others. I thank God I was raised Only in Selma!!
