Over the rainbow Is too far to travel today So I’m walking downtown Which is where I would rather be anyway And I seek out company But then all I want is to be alone Back in my bedroom--- My books, my music, my silence--- Turn off the phone. Curled up in words and in melodies The world stops, turns back to the start But I can’t seem to shake all these memories This is the blessing and curse Of an elephant’s heart And ten thousand leagues Is deeper than I can withstand So I gather these songs With remote control submarines Completely unmanned But here on the surface Holding them up in my hands They never are quite what they seemed Far beneath me Deep in the darkness They gleamed Curled up in words and in melodies The world stops, turns back to the start But I can’t seem to shake all these memories This is the blessing and curse Of an elephant’s heart How did you get in here?
