PDP: WHY WINNER AND LOSERS SHOULD WORK TOGETHER The PDP is like - TopicsExpress

PDP: WHY WINNER AND LOSERS SHOULD WORK TOGETHER The PDP is like a big tree with many branches. Most people mistake the branches for the trunk. They even forget that every three has a taproot. The founding fathers knew the important role the PDP was to play and that is the more reason they chose the umbrella as a symbol. The umbrella is symbolic of protection and succor. We cannot all be in power at the same time. It is turn by turn. The underpinning philosophy is when it is your turn, act well your part. It is one person at a time. This is why politics is not a do-or-die affair. I have observed politics as a small boy when Okilo campaigned and Isaw Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri under the GNPP in Nembe. Awolowo also came to Ogoniland and I saw his vehicle near hotel Presidential. He was looking for Late Saro-Wiwa to win him votes in that area under UPN. Those were days of flamboyant and idea-based campaign. Those people they had wished away as political “nobody’s” later became Governors and Senators. Some even became Presidents. I had thought that power and money were the only pavements to high office. Now, my perception has changed greatly. There is a third dimension to it: the God dimension which no political strategist can control. We have all learnt that real power belongs to God. Do not begrudge any winner, but work together with any person who has won the primaries. There should be TEAM WORK: TEAM means: Together Each Achieves More. Winners should not also deride or vilify the losers, because at the end of the success curve, you are bound to meet those who were not as successful as yourself. Again, politics is guided by ideology, so it is not an option for anyone who has failed to decamp to another party. Decamping even makes matters because it is a demonstration of character inconsistency and instability. The main guiding principle is TEAM WORK BETWEEN THE WINNERS AND THE LOSERS. That is what makes PDP solid, stable and dominant in Nigeria’s political theatre since 1999. APC does not have this extra-ordinary solidity. This is the truth and the reality. ULTIMATELY, EVERYBODY WINS!
