PRESS RELEASE BAYOU L’OURSE --- Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Tuesday, October 21st, 2014 at approximately 4:14pm, members of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford Focus on Honey Lane. The vehicle was being driven by Gary D. Martin, W/M age 58 of 1289-B Hwy 662, Morgan City. A search of the vehicle discovered approximately 4.2 grams of methamphetamines (crystal meth), several hits of heroin and one Xanax pill. Martin also gave consent to a search of his residence. Two shotguns were located at his residence. Martin is a convicted felon and also currently out on bond for Assumption and St. Mary Parishes. Gary D. Martin was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center on October 21st, 2014 for LRS 32:306B Failure to Signal, LRS 32:306A Two Brake Lights Required, LRS 40:967 Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II Methamphetamine, LRS 40:966 Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I Heroin, LRS 40:1023 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, LRS 40:969 Possession of Schedule IV Xanax, LRS 40:966 Possession of Marijuana, LRS 14:95.1 Possession of a Firearm by a convicted felon. His bond has been set at $201,543 and he is still in custody as of the time of this release.
