Penang lends itself to cliché — it’s a melting pot, a foodie - TopicsExpress

Penang lends itself to cliché — it’s a melting pot, a foodie find, a hipster haunt. But the Malaysian island is far from ordinary. The food, the culture, the cafes, and the art all deserve their reputations. But the island, and George Town in particular, is also home to some really awesome and unique hotels. Many are set in historic shop houses or homes and hardly feel like hotels at all. A lovely example is Campbell House. Located in old George Town in a three-story corner shop house built in 1903, the hotel and its beautifully decorated rooms recall the town’s past and make for a memorable stay. For something a bit different, Clove Hall is a restored bungalow that provides a quiet escape behind its walls. In the evenings, the garden is the perfect place for a stroll before dinner. And these are just two of many incredible places in Penang to rest your head.
