Psalm of the Day for October 13 - Psalm 121 Todays psalm, Psalm - TopicsExpress

Psalm of the Day for October 13 - Psalm 121 Todays psalm, Psalm 121, is one of several often-quoted psalms; you will often find it referenced even in contemporary sources. For example, the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music uses the opening lines to reassure Maria as they flee the German army. This is another of the psalms of ascent for pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. As they walked, they might have passed hills and mountains and thought about them. However, as opposed to how this psalm is sometimes misquoted, the opening verse is most likely a question. Our help does not come from the hills; in fact, that is where unseen danger may lie. Instead, our help comes from the Lord, the one who made the hills. This God doesnt sleep and will provide for you day and night. He will protect you when you are at home or traveling. Find a way to give thanks to God today for His protection and care of you. (A quick note about todays musical selection: Sam Robson, the young man in the video, does indeed perform every note you hear. Our musically-inclined members will notice quite a few harmonic changes from the original Richard Smallwood version. Check out Sams other arrangements on Youtube: https://youtube/channel/UC9rqoXhRpbIJ2N867HeEUZQ. His version of I Need Thee Every Hour is certainly worth your time.) ____________________________________ I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
