Q: Some people resort to certain individuals who claim to have the ability to see the unseen to know what is awaiting them using magic and the like. Is this realistic? What is the ruling regarding that? A: All that is false and forbidden, for no one has the ability to predict the unseen, and there is not any truth in the cases where man refers his problems and afflictions, as well as diseases and needs to works of magic and the like, which some people call “Kateeba” which are charms written on pieces of cloths. Anything that happens has its realistic reasons, and it is impermissible to go to anyone who claims to know the unseen and solve people’s problems in a certain way. Rather, one ought to put his trust in Allah and rely on Him to solving problems and facilitating things, for Allah has guided us through logic and reason, and He did not give anyone the ability to know the unseen and solve problems in a paranormal manner. Indeed, Allah has called on us make invocations along with our pursuit to get what we want, and this is the best way to reach our goals.
