Reader Mail (police): Dear Mr. Ruben, What in the world is - TopicsExpress

Reader Mail (police): Dear Mr. Ruben, What in the world is happening, you ask: An America divided by those who have and those who have not; an America that is waking up to the fact that there are different laws for white people, for rich people, and the police reinforce these laws by shooting-to-kill first. Those that are dead on the ground are usually unarmed black men or black boys who seem to be fair game to the law. How can we protest this injustice by law enforcement officers who we thought were here to protect and serve? Do we go to the court system for justice? No, the court sides with the police. Shall we have peaceful protests? No, the police brutally attack peaceful protestors and arrest them. Looting, destroying property, burning cars is NOT acceptable protesting, however, the level of frustration that elicits that kind of behavior is understandable. If it was your unarmed white son who was shot three times in the torso, once in the face and the officer who did the shooting was black, smiling, eating a cheeseburger standing over your dead son, how would you feel? What would you do? Protest? Demand justice? Demand the officer be arrested for murder? And what if the court refused to find the officer guilty of anything? How would you react then? What in the world is happening indeed. Signed, A very white 76 year old who is fed up with ALL that is happening.
