Reflecting on Being an ARTIST cont. My youngest just helped me with an inventory for my first exhibition with Naomi Goldlight at Robyn Bauer Gallery April 2013 The stats for the exhibition pieces are: Sold 5, gifted 1, on permanent commercial display 1, withdrawn from sale 3. I think thats OK for a first effort? The questions Im most often asked are: 1.How long did it take you to paint that? (For this read ...If it took you a long time I will value it more) Answer - I dont agree with this. Stunning work can be done quickly sometimes that doesnt make it more or less valuable 2. Where did you train? Answer - In the lounge room. 3. How can get my artwork to sell like yours? Answer - I value my work. My mother bought a piece after several friends and relatives remarked that I was doing well and asked if she had any they could look at - she was ashamed to have none at the time. I would be very wealthy now if I had a dollar for every person who has said to me I think I should buy some of your work now before you get famous. Trent often interjects with or die at this point.
