Zena Denise Crenshaw Oddly enough, many if not most Americans limit their response to Broken Courts to seeking/securing legal representation and/or pursuing pro se litigation. Those who realize that resort to the court of public opinion is also necessary, rarely (relatively speaking) take that effort beyond protests. Our more comprehensive public awareness and reform campaigns repeatedly stagnate or outright fail due to inadequate funding and manpower. I mention this -- not so much to complain -- but to emphasize that sustained, reform advocacy is the necessary response to sustained legal system malfunctions. I recall a time when about the last thing family court and the state wanted to do was break up a family, but that has apparently changed. We do need public awareness and pressure, beyond just having demonstrations, to learn why such things happen and to correct malfunctions in the family court system
