SEEKING EDITOR for INDEPENDENT EXPERIMENTAL SHORT FILM The producers of “Self-Deportation: The Untold Tale of a Marginal Woman” are currently seeking a digital film editor. While “Self-Deportation” is a small, independent film with a limited budget, some compensation will be available and will be based on: (1) level of experience and (2) scope of work capabilities (e.g. titles, color correction, After Effects). Editors with experience in experimental film especially encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and familiar with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera RAW workflow and will be proficient with Adobe Premiere Pro. Editors working with Final Cut, Avid, and Vegas will also be considered. “Self-Deportation” finished shooting in Chicago in late January. The film tells the story of an Asian businesswoman who is accosted by a group of angry “Real Americans” who tell her to go back to where she came from. Distraught, the Asian woman decides to “self-deport” and packs herself into a shipping crate. Before departing, she goes on a fantastical voyage in which she bids farewell to various “Real Americans” who represent an idealized vision of America. The film’s aesthetic is inspired by the music videos of Michel Gondry (featuring Bjork), the short films of Kenneth Anger, and David Lynch. The film’s director worked at production companies in LA, is a Sundance Screenwriters Lab finalist, and was shortlisted for Sundance’s A3 Foundation Feature Film Fellowship in 2013.
