SUNDAY SERMON NOTES Sunday January 26,2014 11am Pastor Owens Scripture: Romans 12:1 Title: The Living Sacrifice * Sacrifice = denying yourself something; letting go of what you want in order to gain something greater * Living Sacrifice = you are alive and want something but deny yourself of it in order to gain something greater * When you are willing to apologize, you are willing to sacrifice your emotions for the betterment of your relationship - EVEN IF IT HURTS! * You have to sacrifice if you are going to live the Christian life. Going to church only is not enough! You have to do more than just show up [at church]. * Each day there are sacrifices that we must do. * A sacrifice must be three things: 1) alive 2) holy 3) approved by God. * We try to impress each other instead of going to God and pleasing Him. When we go to Him [to please Him], everybody else will fall in line because God controls the heart of the people. * Give your all and dont worry about others! * It hurts when you are doing it all and no one appreciates you or says thank you. But remember, you are a LIVING SACRIFICE! * Anytime you try to build yourself up on the shoulders of men for a pat on the back, you will fall. * Marriages, children, communities are all suffering because people are unwilling to sacrifice! * Sacrifices done correctly will lead to blessings. * God recognizes your sacrifice. * Your sacrifice truly is what you are supposed to do. God pulled you up out of some mess. Sacrificing for Him is your reasonable service.
