Severe Thunderstorm Warning for: R.M. of De Salaberry including St-Pierre-Jolys and St. Malo ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 2:44 PM CDT Wednesday 24 July 2013 At 2:40 pm CDT, meteorologists are tracking a line of dangerous thunderstorms capable of producing golf ball hail and larger, powerful winds greater than 100 km/h, and flooding downpours. These thunderstorms are moving southeastward at 30 km/h. Communities in the path include: Steinbach, Dufrost, Dominion City and St Pierre-jolys. Take cover, if threatening weather approaches, within a sturdy building, away from windows. Strong wind gusts with large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods. Avoid driving through water on roads. Even shallow fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. In Canada, lightning kills up to 10 people every year.
