Some of my FB frends are discussing spanking. Here is my experience, and feelings on the subject. My parents used their hands and the belt...I used a wooden spoon on my 3 boys and a Dr Schols wooden flip flop . The shoe was used one time only. The boys were 3,5 and 6. We had just moved to OR, it was early spring and the creek behind our house was raging, It was down a steep hill, the house wasnt close, but near enough for the my boys to explore. There was a tree that had fallen. The boys knew that they were not to go past that tree, and not to go to the creek. One afternoon we missed Mike and Rob...My husband thought they were with me, and I thought they were with him. Couldnt find them - were were frantic. Just as I headed past the tree I saw the 2 Doberman coming up from the creek...I ran over, saw the boys struggling to get back up the hill. I calmy crawled down, in a dress, and got them safely back to the tree. We sat down and I asked, Do you know what this tree means? Sobbing they both said...We arent to go past it. I whipped off that shoe and paddled them both. Then explained they could have slipped and fell into the creek and would have died in the water. Michael never went past the tree again...cant say the same for Rob. Sometimes a spanking, not a beating, with whatever, is the only way to make an impression. It still makes my heart pound now when I think of how easily they could have been gone forever. It was not a time out experience.
