Speculation About Abraham, Available Light, and Salvation Through - TopicsExpress

Speculation About Abraham, Available Light, and Salvation Through Faith It is an undeniable fact that those who were saved through the cross of Christ in the Old Testament reached grace differently than those after Jesus ascension from Pentecost. Namely, though it was STILL through faith, it was assuredly without baptism. We have multiple examples of those who worshiped the One True God but did so via whatever means they had at their disposal. Moses father in law Jethro was not a Jew, nor was Melchizedek. As well, there are others including those saved prior to Abraham. This says nothing about Abraham and those saved by faith under the Law of Moses. EVERY last one of those who were saved reached the cross of Christ through the existing light available at the time. Now, spiritually speaking, we live in a time of unprecedented light. We have more information than has ever been known. We live under the brightness of the Son. Yet, sadly, God still has to save us despite ourselves because we can all be INCREDIBLY dense and stubborn. I am NOT one of those who think that faith and baptism are mutually exclusive. Baptism is no good without faith, nor should faith be understood as bonafide without baptism (although I know there are many who disagree with this). There is much said in scripture about the promise made to Abraham by God and that it was never rescinded. This promise is through Jesus Christ. Now to the question of the moment. Does the fact that we should have more than adequate light to come to biblical faith-filled obedience mean that God has dispensed with the grace He has always provided in times past via a limited perception of available light? Upbringing, culture, intelligence, pride, uncertainty and world-view are ALL enough to muddle understanding of even the most honest and ardent seekers today. So, has the wealth of what we have today taken away salvation through Jesus when light is limited or does it lay as an extra measure of blessing? The thought that it could likely still remain as an added layer of protection gives me great hope.
