Srimad Gita Chapter 2 Samkya Yoga Or the Yoga of Knowledge (continued) “Endowed with equanimity, a man engaged in devotional service rids himself even in this life both good and evil actions. Therefore strive for the practice of this Yoga of equanimity; skill in action lies in the practice of this Yoga.” Those whose activities are intrinsically protected under the secure guidance of spiritual intelligence are released from the bondage of unremitting rebirth in the material existence, for this reason one should eternally remain steadfast in spiritual intelligence. Although enlightening spiritual intelligence takes enormous effort to achieve, once attained it is not complicated to sustain. All actions performed from the foundations of spiritual intelligence are not binding and the mind is preserved in a perfectly equipoised state. In advising Arjuna to employ this Yoga of equanimity the Lord intends to counsel Arjuna that such a Yogi gets liberated in this very life, therefore he expects Arjuna to attain that state. By asserting that Yoga symbolizes a proficiency in action, the Lords strives to make it obvious that actions by its very character leads to a bondage and man cannot remain inactive even for an instant and has to engage in some or any action. Under such conditions, the practice of the yoga of equanimity is the easiest and best mechanism to obtain liberation from bondage. (To be continued)
