Students of Southeast University achieved Championship in nationwide Textile Talent Hunt Competition, 2103 Mr. Md. Niaz Morshed, a student of 15th batch of Department of Textile Engineering has achieved Championship in a nationwide “Textile Talent Hunt Competition-2013” organized by Bangladesh Textile Today. The competition was held among 400 students of 19 public and private institutions of Bangladesh. The selection procedure involved four steps. First of all contestants sat for written test. After qualifying in the test top fifty students were selected to submit a research based assignment. Mr. Morshed carried out a research work on, “An Eco Friendly Sustainable Sludge Management in Textiles: Production of Bio Gas by Anaerobic Technology”. His research supervisor was Dr. Arun Kanti Guha, Associate Professor, Dept. of Textile Engineering, SEU. Mr. Morshed has developed a method to produce bio gas from this sludge under scholastic guidance of Dr. Arun Kanti Guha. After submission of assignment top fifteen contestants sat for oral test. Then top five contestants were nominated for Grand Finale. At Grand Finale top five contestants presented their papers and finally Mr. Md. Niaz Morshed achieved championship. On the other hand, a student, Mr. Md. Raju Ahmed of 17th batch of Department of Textile Engineering secured fifth position in the above mentioned competition. Mr. Ahmed carried out a research work on, “AN ECO FRIENDLY NATURAL FIBER: PALM FRUIT: DYEING, SPINNING AND CHARACTERIZATION”. His research supervisors were, Dr. ANM Ahmed Ullah, Assistant Professor and Dr. Arun Kanti Guha, Associate Professor, Department of Textile Engineering, SEU. Discovery of new natural Textile fibres are essential now a days.
