Superintendent’s Report, starting at 9:03 --Opt to have student presentation on Africa first so she can go home to bed (but in the future, if she’s not on the agenda, she will have to wait until the bitter end and suffer) --OV mo report—sounds like whatever they end up calling it, it will be at JOHN JAY school within a school, program w/I a school, or a stand alone? TBA --a bunch of scenarios --Mr. Carrion wants to look at shared services with another school district --projected costs would include a .5 guidance counselor; using budget #s=projected instructional personnel cost-$716k and with staggered schedule transp=$833k (students would ride home with late bus students) --morning run will be only OV students --students will have a staggered schedule (9a until 3:40p); but students who want to be in extracurr have to maintain the reg bus schedule --talking about BETA (What exactly is Beta? Can someone help us?) --max of 25 students per class --all students will be on a CONTRACT (nice rhetoric, but we all know WCSD does a great job of holding past superintendents to contracts…not) (Mr. Rubin later asks what happens if the student doesn’t fulfill the contract; what are the consequences of breaking the contract? Mr. Carrion—what is the parent, student, guidance counselor, etc committing to,maybe contract isn’t the right word) --students who need to make up courses: 1) credit recovery with teacher facilitation 2) repeat the class the following year 3) take the course at John Jay --savings of $301k to turn OV into a program or a school within a school, but can’t really say actual numbers before CSE meetings take place --Mr. Carrion stresses that they are generic numbers Questions from board --Lumia says that the programs at the elem, jr, and hs have to look at what is not working; intervention before OVHS situations 10:03pm
