In 1963 Juan Bosch became the first democratically-elected President of the Dominican Republic and the only one to this present day, to truly represent the poor and disenfranchised. He had spent the previous 25 years in exile leading the opposition to the brutal dictator Rafael Trujillo. Unfortunately, his tenure as President was short-lived. He didnt have the loyalty of an armed forces that our beloved Hugo Chavez had. After he made steps to empower the poor and working class, he was branded a left-leaning liberal who wants to make the country another Cuba. Just 7 months after taking the oath of office, Bosch was overthrown by a CIA orchestrated coup. Two years later loyalists in the military mounted a coup to restore the democratically elected leader (ala Hugo Chavez). Before Bosch could resume office, the US orchestrated another coup to topple the loyalist military junta and clear the way for a status quo leader who was favorable to the interests of the Dominican elite class and the United States.] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The government tendered and contracted the development of the Master Plan City Juan Bosch, which has seen the construction of about 25,000 houses, with warranty of adequate infrastructure, institutional endowment and commercial areas, areas for educational facilities, sports and recreational area industrial production of SMEs and MSMEs, large open spaces and green areas and good access to public transport. This project expresses the concept of sustainable, functional, inclusive and dynamic design that provides a lifestyle built between residential and productive all activities of a suitcase, economic and employment generator, promoter of environmental sustainability by promoting downtown use of roofs for solar panels and hydroponics, as well as the recycling of waste material, and integrations support of all public services that require citizens to avoid long commutes and contribute to fuel savings and the development of area through a zoning integrator serving the surrounding land. The project includes the construction of more than 25,000 homes, 35 schools, including day care centers, preschools and elementary education, secondary schools and one middle school job training center; 9 religious centers; 16 security centers between fire stations, police stations and civil defense; 1 large sports complex with Play baseball and football among others; several cultural centers as a museum, library, amphitheater, auditorium, civic plaza. It also includes a general hospital with several primary care centers and specialized health; an industrial area of SMEs and MSMEs to a market for product commercialization; a collection center for recyclable material; two major bus terminals; 4 seasons of fuels; public employment services; 2 large shopping centers and commercial areas for many small stores, offices, schools, salons, pharmacies, etc., among other facilities. The design scheme has provided for the construction of 10 neighborhoods as functional units, each with sufficient social, institutional, commercial and residential facilities, to make an effective life for their residents, so as to enable them to close access to activities are routinely required, including access to public transport via bus stops. The City resident Juan Bosch, you can move properly with effective access to public transportation, pedestrian safety and use of bikeways in promoting fuel economy and participation in sports and better quality of life. The development of City Juan Bosch will occur in phases.
