The BC Government has announced what it calls a re-engineering of the education and post-secondary systems to focus on in-demand jobs--read welding, trucking, pipefitting, carpentry--but also medicine, physiotherapy and nursing. BUT, there is no new money--hundreds of millions of dollars will be reallocated from other programs---like philosophy, political science and, presumably, teaching. Is this a good move? Is the value of a liberal arts degree plummeting?
