The City Council’s Housing and Human Needs Committee will conduct a special meeting as a Committee of the Whole on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. The agenda is as follows: Presentation: Update on the City’s Comprehensive Blight Strategy In September 2010, Mayor Landrieu unveiled his comprehensive blight strategy, with an overall goal of reducing the number of blighted properties by 10,000 over the following three years. The Housing Committee requests a presentation of the results of that strategy, the funding sources and annual expenditures required to implement that strategy, and any changes made to that strategy after nearly three years of implementation (presentations totaling a maximum of 30 minutes). A. Overall Strategy Funding sources, total expenditures, adjustments, results B. Code Enforcement a. Basic overview of the Code Enforcement process and timelines; b. More detailed explanation of process after a “guilty” code enforcement judgment is obtained, including who or what department makes decisions on abatement measures; c. Outline of specific procedures for demolishing properties, including identification of decision-makers, budget allocations, and process for all types of government-funded demolitions. d.
