The Daily Upworthiest Hey, The world has faced a number of big challenges this year, but theres perhaps no bigger threat to our long-term security than climate change. We know the Upworthy communitys aware of this issue because at the beginning of 2014, you told us climate change was the #1 topic youd like us to cover this year. To that end, this fall we partnered with the United Nations to build a special section on Upworthy to help galvanize government, business, finance, and civil society to take meaningful climate action. If you havent seen it, take a look! (Spoiler alert: Its pretty cool.) This work was supported by our friends at Unilever Project Sunlight, who helped us harness the unstoppable power of the Interwebs to put climate change content in front of millions of people. Did you see Leonardo DiCaprios passionate speech at the U.N. Climate Summit in New York? This powerful film narrated by Morgan Freeman? Or this video showcasing the Earths astonishing beauty from outer space? Perhaps you joined us during our fun live-tweeting session from the U.N. Climate Summit on September 23rd. We just want to take the time to thank you for doing your part in helping to draw attention to this critical issue — the one that, you know, you wanted to see more of from us in the first place! This year was a big one for climate action. In the time since the U.N. Summit and worldwide Peoples Climate March in September, the U.S. and China in November announced a historic agreement to reduce carbon emissions. And this month, climate experts and leaders met in Lima for the 20th Conference of the Parties, laying the groundwork for a meaningful and universal new climate change agreement to be signed in Paris in December 2015. But we still have a long road ahead. As President Obama has said, Were the first generation to feel the effect of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it. With the help from our friends at the United Nations, Unilever Project Sunlight, and you, were super grateful to have this chance to turn the tide on climate change. Take a second to check out our U.N. Climate Summit section, share it with your friends, and join the #action2015 movement today! — Team Upworthy
