The Effect of Righteousness 8 JUNE Daily Readings 1. Judges 4-5 2. Isaiah 32 3. James 2 “And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.” Isaiah 32:17(ESV) So often throughout the Old Testament you read of God saving His people. Repeatedly we see that they turn away to other gods and come under oppression, but when they remember God and call out to Him, He saves them yet again. If the people would have remained faithful to God and stayed away from sin, how many wars and death and oppression might they have avoided? Jesus died on the cross, not only to take away our sin, but to give us His righteousness. Now we have peace with God because of the righteousness Christ has given us. We have done nothing to earn righteousness before God. It is Christ’s own righteousness in which we stand. Therefore, we can do nothing to diminish this righteousness: it is not our own, it has never depended on us. Praise be to God! I live my life, not trying to earn peace with God, but rather as an offering of praise because He has already won it for me. Prayer: Jesus, the righteous One, murdered because of my sin, You have given me life, righteousness, and peace with God. Praise the name of Jesus! Amen. Jarrod Clur
