The High Court in Embu has dismissed an appeal against a life sentence by a man convicted of rape. Joseph Mwanzia, 25, had appealed against his sentence after he was convicted for raping two girls aged three and seven. Embu judge Hedwig Ong’udi said the two girls identified the accused. She said the evidence of the two children is enough to convict Mwanzia. Ongudi said his argument that the witnesses evidence contradicted each other does not hold water. She said she concurs with the state lawyer Doris Ing’ahizu that there was enough evidence for the lower court to give him a life sentence. Ongudi gave Mwanzia 14 days to appeal against the judgement if he is not satisfied.
