The standup part of my job is so interesting because you travel all day by yourself, then all of a sudden youre surrounded by tons of people who are laser focused on you, and then youre alone again for the next 24 hours until you do it all over again. Sometimes the contrast is jarring. I have mastered eating alone and going to movies and on walks by myself (God, I sound like Im 70), and I dont mind it. I think living in Spain and going backpacking for weeks at a time by myself helped me get used to that. When Im in bigger cities where theres a lot to do and see, I dont think about it very much. But when Im in the middle of nowhere like right now in Arkansas, I have this moment of like, Hmmm, this is weird. But I cant complain. Im so lucky people even want to see me perform in the first place, and its ridiculously awesome that I get paid to do what I love. Wait, what was my point to all of this? Oh, yeah. Im thinking about going down the Queer as Folk path on Netflix. Ive never seen it. Is it worth it?
