There are benefits to getting older. I realize, as I have aged, I am more at peace with myself and better able to focus on my goals. I understand now that it truly is what is inside that is important. Friends and family, being surrounded by people who love and care about you matter. All those expensive gadgets, clothes, cars, etc. don’t. Most importantly, in the scheme of things, they can‘t buy you happiness. I think as a society it is so easy to lose sight of this. We are bombarded with ads and commercials hourly. We should look a certain way or wear a certain brand. This perfume will make us irresistible and that phone will make us more popular. The manufacturers of these products don’t care about us. We spend way too much time caring about them. For those that follow my page, most of you know I work at a homeless shelter. There are so many things you can do that won’t cost a cent, yet can make a difference in the world. When you give of yourself, it seems to always end up more as a gift to yourself. Volunteer at a soup kitchen, rehab a house with Habitat For Humanity, help someone learn to read, donate used clothes and books to a homeless shelter - there are so many ways to help. It can take as much or as little time as you want. When we stop trying to have it all is when have more time to focus on the things in life that really matter. Respectfully - Marcy
