PINK is about AWARENESS. • The PINK parade float vanished with my initial diagnosis, stage irrelevant. • Awareness and Early Detection only indicate how long a person & doctor know of the disease. • PINK has not extended survival or saved lives. Once a person is diagnosed, PINK no longer is in the picture – you have AWARENESS. • A diagnosis of breast cancer now means that person may join the 30% who will get Metastatic Breast Cancer [MBC]. 30% !!!! THAT IS A HUGE NUMBER!!! • This is the breast cancer that kills. If treatment and complications don’t. And PINK campaigns, pens, boobie cookies, coffee cups are not raising money to research the cure. • I can’t wait to bake Penis-Scrotom cookies for Prostate Cancer Awareness month. Who wants one? Keep the boobie cupcake please. That’s insulting. • And I am sicker now than the other 2 times I was bald. But now I am going bald again from Whole Brain Radiation. Because there are breast cancer cells growing in my brain and spinal fluid. That’s just wrong. • I have twin 7 year olds and a 6 year old, an awesome husband and Life. W. T. Thanks Susan G Komen!] • Only 17% percent is going to research regarding Breast Cancer. Of that, approximately 2% is going to Metastatic Breast Cancer – THE KILLER.
