This happened here in Washington State. The law is pretty clear and cops need to abide by it. They are not above it. The sherrifs office was interviewed today, and apparently the reason why the cars werent marked was due to the sherrifs office had just purchased new vehicles from a dealership and the third party vendor hired to label the vehicles neglected to do so prior to the vehicles being delivered to the sherrifs office from the dealership. Needless to say...the sherrif said they were NOT going to take the patrol vehicles out due to a minor mishap of not being labeled. They felt as though the ehickes were more important out in patrol use rather than risking the publics safety if they were not on the street. Hummm....so basically, the sherrif DOES think the law doesnt dont pertain to them...
