Ti Lian Ker hammering LGE and giving him a taste of his own medicine. Lim Guan Eng should stop his hypocrisy and using personal attacks to cover the truth By confirming that the word “Allah” can be used by non-Muslims in Penang, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has finally confirmed that there is no prohibition by any Federal Laws or the government. Guan Eng had asserted that the Penang State Islamic Religious Administration Enactment 2004 applies to Muslims only and do not cover non-Muslims. Thus, MCA thanks Lim Guan Eng for this clarification and as such, there should be no longer any issue of blaming MCA or Federal government. Guan Eng’s hypocrisy This also shows that Lim Guan Eng had been very naughty during the Christmas of 2012 where in his address he said : “For this reason, DAP urges the BN Federal government to allow the use of the word Allah on the Bahasa Malaysia version of the Bible “. Since Guan Eng has now acknowledged that there is no law – either State or Federal – to ban the usage of “Allah” by non-Muslims in Penang, this means that he was either mistaken when he made his Christmas plea in 2012, or was the call a calculated move to mislead the public and incite ill-feelings against BN and the Federal government? Why waste time gazetting an “unenforceable” law? Also, we urge Guan Eng to also clarify the statement by Penang Mufti Datuk Hassan Ahmad who had on 26 December 2012 said that the 40 words ban was agreed to by the Pakatan-led Penang Government and agreed to by Guan Eng himself and was subsequently gazetted and enforced by the Penang government in 2010 (sinarharian.my/nasional/kalimah-allah-hormati-keputusan-majlis-fatwa-1.115437). One wonders why the Penang State Government is wasting valuable time and resources to go through the process of gazetting this “un-enforceable” laws? And since the 2004 law and 2010 amendment which is meant for non-Muslims has now been confirmed as redundant and unenforceable on non-Muslims, then DAP should thus repeal it. Resorting to personal attacks out of desperation? Guan Eng had also accused me of lying and of being an “unworthy” lawyer for “not knowing the law” and for questioning this 40 words ban enactment. It is very unbecoming of a Chief Minister to resort to personal attacks instead of attending to the concerns of the Rakyat as raised, and for the time-being, I reserve my legal rights to pursue this further should I choose to. As Guan Eng had also questioned which University I had graduated from, I am proud to say that I am a product of Universiti Malaya which has produced many successful personalities from poor families. Not everyone is as lucky as Guan Eng to be able to study in Australia at such an early age with a famous and powerful father in Lim Kit Siang who was able to afford him the privilege of an overseas education. However, I wish to draw to his attention that the late DAP Chairman, Karpal Singh, on 12 January 2014 had also raised grave concerns on this very same prohibited 40 words. Karpal had called on the Penang government to seek legal advice on the ban words announced by the state mufti and gazzetted, and had said that amendments should be made before any non-Muslim is charged for using the prohibited words. Did Guan Eng read the late Karpal Singh’s statement that was published in RoketKini? Thus, Guan Eng should come clean and be truthful and honest on this matter as I am certain that Guan Eng has no intention of implying that Karpal Singh was also “lying” or “not a worthy lawyer” since he had also raised the same issues as I did (malaysiakini/news/251622) Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker MCA Religious Harmony Bureau MCA Central Committee Member mca.org.my/en/guan-eng-should-stop-his-hypocrisy-and-using-personal-attacks-to-cover-the-truth/
