Two movements HRCFers will possibly see tomorrow..... The Snatch The Snatch is the worlds fastest lift. In addition to moving the weight quickly, the snatch also moves the weight a long distance - from the ground all the way overhead. The snatch not only trains power, but is an excellent developer of balance, flexibility, coordination, speed and strength. Overhead Squat The overhead squat is possibly the best core strength exercise in existence. In the words of Coach Glassman: The overhead squat is the ultimate core exercise...and peerless in developing effective athletic movement. It demands flexibility, strength, balance, and is an essential component of the SNATCH. It is also an excellent measure of your core stability and control, and ultimately, your ability to generate effective and efficient athletic power. What is mobility? Mobility is a broad concept that comprises joint range of motion (ROM), muscular tension, soft tissue and joint capsule restrictions, adhesions, tendon resilience, neuromuscular coordination, proprioception, the biomechanics of positioning, and knowledge of the proper form for a movement. It includes stabilization, too, created by muscular balance and strength–particularly core strength to protect the spine–and ligament tautness. What is the difference between stretching and mobility? According to Dr. Kelly Starrett, DPT: Stretching only focuses on lengthening short and tight muscles. Mobilization, on the other hand, is a movement-based integrated full-body approach that addresses all the elements that limit movement and performance including short and tight muscles, soft tissue restriction, joint capsule restriction, motor control problems, joint range of motion dysfunction, and neural dynamic issues. In short, mobilization is a tool to globally address movement and performance problems. To successfully land a snatch and overhead squat one most be FLEXABLE and MOBILE. Kelly Starlett the moblity guru will talk us through mobilty for the ankle, hip, and shoulder. Links for 3 Kelly Starlett Mobility youtu.be/HgEgIGE2ZI8 youtu.be/_Gwgm3s2EQ0 youtu.be/_qgEOqJYIjM
