Income derived from an activity carried on by a tax exempt entity is generally subject to unrelated business income tax (UBIT) if 3 criteria are met. 1. The actvity constitutes a trade or business; 2. The activity is regularly carried on; 3. The activity is not substantially related to exempt purpose, other than through the production of income.
