Very saddened to learn of the sudden passing of an old friend, guitarist Andre Bush. My first professional gigs were playing in a Jazz trio with Andre when I was 15 yrs old and the last time I played Jazz kit was a few years ago when I ran into him at a gig and he insisted that I sit in. As I sit right now listening to a live broadcast from the San Jose Jazz Festival Im hearing many of the old standards that Andre and I used to play together. Those songs and the memory of playing them with Andre are deep in my soul. I had not been in close touch with Andre for many years but, looking on his FB page, I see that he was engaged to be married just a week ago. I cant imagine the grief his fiancee must be feeling and I send my condolences to her, his daughter, and especially his mom and step-dad who were devotedly at every gig that we played together, often sharing a table with my parents, as two young kids initiated themselves into the intimate sharing of spontaneous creation that is the music that we both loved. Love you brother and sending you peace and sweet release wherever you are. RIP.
