WE HAVE AN IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM WAA HEADQUARTERS Founder of Wreaths Across America to Match Every $15 Wreath Sponsorship for Arlington First Lady of Maine Ann LePage issues challenge to Morrill Worcester ARLINGTON, Virginia — Dec. 11, 2014 — This morning Morrill Worcester, founder of Wreaths Across America, accepted a challenge made by long-time supporter, Maine’s First Lady Ann LePage. He will match each $15 wreath sponsorship made for Arlington now through tomorrow (Dec. 12) at midnight in hopes of reaching the goal of placing a wreath on EVERY headstone at Arlington National Cemetery this Saturday, Dec. 13. “Morrill does so much already, but I am asking him to do more, because it is that important,” said Mrs. LePage (before climbing onto the back of a Harley to continue the trek from Maine to Arlington). “Wreath Across America’s mission – to Remember, Honor, Teach – resonates with every American and every American has an opportunity here to say ‘Thank You’.” Wreaths across America is closing in on having 200,000 wreath sponsorships for Arlington this year, but is in need of approximately 20,000 more $15 sponsorships to reach its goal of honoring ALL those buried at our nation’s cemetery. To sponsor a wreath to be matched by Morrill Worcester, please visit wreathsacrossamerica.org. Worcester continues to be one of the nonprofit’s largest supporters, averaging 20,000+ wreath donations each year for placement at veterans’ cemeteries across the country, in addition to Arlington National Cemetery. This year alone he’s already made a sizable donation to the group of 25,000 wreaths. “To be this close and not reach the goal would be very hard,” said Worcester. “Having spent this week with Gold Star families, I can’t imagine not honoring one of their sons or daughters because we didn’t have enough wreaths to go around. This is the year we are going to make sure every person is honored.” About Wreaths Across America Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s mission, Remember, Honor, Teach, is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as at hundreds of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.
