This is equal to anywhere from 1.5 to 2 million dollars per year in funding for MaST. There is currently legislation in Harrisburg that will change the funding formula for students with disabilities. If passed, this legislation will drastically reduce funding for students with disabilities who attend public charter schools. This unfair treatment creates a second class of special education student. How can this type of discrimination happen in this day and age? Simple, many legislators do not understand the horrible impact of this legislation and sadly, some are aware but, just don’t care. This legislation is unfair to students with disabilities, but if passed the impact will effect entire schools. In fact, many charter schools will not be able to provide the services they are required to under state and federal law. Click on this flyer and JUST SAY NO to The Senate and House Bills.
