WHAT “AIN’T TRUE” ABOUT ME? (1) I once sung a practice duet with Al Jarreau; (2) I once IRRITATED Senator Barry Goldwater (THE FATHER of MODERN CONSERVATISM) so much, that he used PROFANITY in his response to me; (3) Was among the first 50 blacks to “integrate” high schools in Raleigh, NC and the ONLY ONE from PUBLIC HOUSING; (4) Was CHASED once from a Bull Fighting arena down in Juarez, Mexico until I reached the Rio Grande Bridge crossing back over into El Paso; (5) Was CHASED ONCE through the streets of downtown Da Nang, in South Vietnam by about 100 Vietnamese citizens and a civilian Vietnamese cop; (6) I called in an “HELICOPTER AIR STRIKE” on my own guard tower; (7) at 16, me and a group of my friends FOUGHT with the Ku Klux Klan security guards on Fayetteville St. in Raleigh, NC while Dr. Martin Luther King spoke in the Memorial Auditorium (8) I registered as a Republican during the 1990’s; (9) I never graduated from high school; (10) I won the office of Student Government President at A&T by gathering 220 MORE VOTES than the other 4 candidates “COMBINED” even though I only put up ONE POSTER and gave ONE SPEECH; while they were ALL AFFILIATED WITH SORORITIES, FRATERNITIES and the school BAND (great BASES for establishing a strong vote); (11) Through my AmericasCHILD RELAY Program, Ive worked with an estimated 1,000 children over a 3 decade period (before burning out in 2007) FROM NEW ORLEANS to Maryland; (12) I waited until I was almost 60 years old and COULD NOT RUN before I moved to Mississippi WHERE I established my LiberalToons company and designed and wore my OBAMA-LOVE T-shirt; (13) I wrote and published 3 childrens books; 3 songs (including one RAP and TWO GOSPEL); (14) Working through AmericasCHILD RELAY, Ive helped produce and broadcast over 600 TV shows; including LIVE PRODUCTIONS of Greensboro City Council meetings the FIRST THREE YEARS they were on the air; (15) I KNOW and BELIEVE that NONE OF THIS would have been possible (including my survival...especially MY SURVIVAL; IN THE EARLY YEARS) WITHOUT the presence of a SPIRIT MUCH GREATER THAN MYSELF... (16) IVE SUFFERED from a rather server case of PTSD and depression FOR THE PAST 44 plus years but with medication and my OWN developed method/practice of POST TRAUMATIC GROWTH centered around the RELAY PROGRAM and 18 hrs a day working for 3 decades; (17) I once VOTED a majority Republican ticket in the 1990’s… WHICH IS “NOT TRUE???
