WHAT MAKES MEN ATTRACTIVE? Chances are, youre probably not attracted to the same type of men your mother was -- or are you? So here we go, it appears there are two basic traits that make men attractive, (Physical Appearance and Charisma) but these are becoming more and more diluted as the new millennium passes. Why? Well back in the day, the lead men that were consider handsome and generally attractive were a particular set of men with a particular set of traits. In short order, Macho-Men, rugged, even scruffy types that were often physical and harbored strong, bold, sometimes even chauvinistic attitudes. Men back then, were considered attractive based more on their overall “package” (no pun intended) of manliness, personality, and physical prowess with far less importance on facial looks. Nowadays, this has switched big time. Seemingly so, no longer is the somewhat hairy chest attractive (I’m not talking about super hairy, like Larry from Three’s Company mind you) or the stern attitudes of overt masculinity. Instead, it appears younger women today like these “Pretty Boy” types, chest-hair-shaven men with more grooming habits in common with women than the old school men of past eras. Where once men like Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Michael Douglas, Billy Dee Williams, Clint Eastwood, Shaft, Burt Reynolds, Charlton Heston, Harrison Ford and even Bruce Lee, were definitely considered handsome men and we rarely see these “types” of men in modern era cinema, except for new actors like Matthew Mcconaughey, or Viggo Mortensen. Instead, the 1980’s took macho men and threw them to the wind, bombarding a newer stereotype of pretty-boy actors like Johnny Depp, Mario Lopez, and Brad Pitt, though great actors and no doubt handsome (at least in a pretty way) are in no way the ultra-macho types seen in past ventures. This leads men to wonder what’s going to happen to the ol’ masculinity factor, once so revered in men of the past? After all, could you imagine, Ashton Kutcher playing James Bond? LOL
