We have not updated you on our quest for a few weeks but rest - TopicsExpress

We have not updated you on our quest for a few weeks but rest assured we have been as busy as ever in preparation for our Kilimanjaro Challenge. We have completed some tough training walks in 4 season weather in the hills of the Lake District and we have continued to watch what we eat and drink and now, after what feels like only a few weeks since we decided to take up the challenge to climb Kilimanjaro, we are now 1 WEEK AWAY! Our vaccinations are complete (pin cushion comes to mind) and malaria tablets and altitude pills are in hand. The kit bag looked easily big enough but with sleeping bag, sleeping mat, down jacket and all the other bits we need they now seem fit to burst! We have so far raised £12000 with more to come including more than £3000 from our team in Ireland who have risen to the fundraising challenge magnificently. The whole team there are behind us just like the whole UK business and we have to pay particular recognition to Eugene Grogan and Brenda Shannon who are going above and beyond to build the donation pot. Eugene is about to embark on a fabulous quest on his boat the Dolphin, Cruise for Cancer (https://facebook/events/374761069297167/) and Brenda has organised a sponsored climb of Sleive Donard in Northern Ireland that we also intend to climb when we return providing our legs still work! This, plus coffee mornings extraordinaire have now taken us over our initial target of £15000 and for this we are eternally grateful. We are travelling as part of a group who are all fund raising for Marie Curie and to date the team, including our contribution, has raised over £110,000. This makes the trip very special and we cannot wait to meet the rest of the team and hear all their stories. So, we count down now to take off next Thursday the 13th and we hope to Summit on the 19th June. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed and helped us reach this goal and for those who think they have missed the chance to help...DO NOT WORRY, you have not. You can still donate at justgiving/leancleantrekkingmachine. We will be blogging back our progress, along with some choice photos (God help us all after a few days of no showers and walking in forest and volcanic ash who knows what those will look like!). Helen will make sure everyone knows how to track our progress and we look forward to having a small celebration when we return...hopefully celebrating the three of us reaching the summit and getting back in one piece! Sincere thanks for all your support, Colin, Calum and Ray - AKA "The LeanCleanTrekkingMachine".
