Tuesday, 21st January WALKING IN LOVE “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23) Everyone loves fruits! Fruits are good and very healthy to the human body. Interestingly, what we admire the most about trees isn’t its stature, leaves, trunk or any other parts, but the fruits. Little wonder God’s first instruction to Adam in the Garden of Eden was: “Be fruitful and multiply.” So God loves fruits too and He has made us fruit-bearers. You have the ability to bear fruits! In Christ, the fruits we bear are called “the fruit of the spirit,” the recreated human spirit. Though “Spirit” is written with the capital letter “S”, its vital to note that the Lord referring here not to the fruit of the Holy Spirit, but the fruit of the recreated human spirit—that’s us: because God’s instruction to be fruitful wasn’t given to the Holy Spirit, but God’s children. It is our responsibility today to bear fruits. In John 15, the Lord Jesus, made it clear by likening God the Father to the Husbandman, Himself as the true Vine and we are the branches. Fruits grow on the branches, and that’s who we are—His extension. So we have the privilege and responsibility of fruit-bearing, and the Holy Spirit has come to help us bear more fruits, because our fruitfulness glorifies God and blesses people. Love is a fruit, a fruit of your re-born human spirit. You are loaded with the seeds of divine love in you. As you feed on God’s word, and confess it, His love-fruit grows bigger in you. The more you meditate on His love, the greater His love in you becomes. Then as you go further in exercising this love towards those around you, your love becomes more developed, blessing the lives of others, and manifesting the glory of the Lord. Become more devoted to walking in love, for that is walking in the spirit too. Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for flooding my heart with your precious word today. Indeed I’m a love-child of a Love-God; for the love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. I’m going to walk in the spirit by walking in love, for I’m a lover, not a hater. And walking in love shall be my great quest in life, for then my love shall abound and God shall reap the glory, in Jesus Name. Amen.
