Welding Supervisor for Dubai Location by Spectrum Talent Management hiring for Oil and Gas Industry for Dubai location in Dubai/ UAE Experience: 10 to 20 yrs. | Opening(s): 10 Job Description JOB TITLE : WELDING SUPERVISOR Department : asset management Job Grade : 6 Experience : 10+ yrs. Company : Specialist Services Location : Dubai Date of Interview : 1st / 2nd Week of Sep’13 Location of Interview - Mumbai A. Purpose and Scope To ensure that welding operations are carried out in accordance to approved procedures and applicable codes/standards. B. Responsibilities and Duties Report any unforeseen discrepancies related to welding quality/repair rates etc to Welding Engineer for root cause analysis and to take preventive measures. Timely requisition of welding materials in order to meet with the project construction schedule and/or completion date. Allocate welders as per approved welder list and approved weld map/plan. Oversee process of qualification of welders and ensure that welding is carried out only by qualified welders in accordance to applicable welding procedure/s. To undertake workshop audit of welding machine, electrode baking and storage to ensure all welding equipment meet required specification. Provide required training to charge hands and welders in order to increase efficiency and improve welding productivity in the yard. Monitor and manage production schedules and output in order to complete work orders on time and thereby meet production schedule. Ensure all the welding variables are within the ranges mentioned in approved welding procedure specification. Ensure that all welding charge hands, welders and weld consumable storekeepers adhere to the approved welding handling and control procedure (both standard and job specific). Ensure all necessary documents needed for a particular project (approved WPS, NDE procedures, ITP etc) are available before commencing the production. Ensure that all welding repairs (if any) are performed under strict supervision and as per approved weld repair procedure. To issue the welder Identification card for each qualified welders and welding operators. To ensure that chargehands/ welders use the best industry working practice for welding, grinding, cutting etc. Coordinate welding activities with all other discipline Supervisors and liaise with Project Managers, Discipline Engineer and QC as necessary. Manage all welding activities of products to ensure that they are performed to the required quality standards. Ensure that all welding works are performed safely and in accordance with companys HSE management system requirements, ISO 18001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 and applicable legal requirements. Responsible for the preparation of any Administration, Project Management or QC documentation associated with welding activities. General Recommend improvements to departmental policy and implement procedures and controls covering all areas of Production function, so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering quality, cost effective service to customers. Ensure compliance to all relevant QHSE procedures and controls across Production function to guarantee employee safety, health, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude. Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned from time to time. C. Organisational Relationships Reports to : Fabrication Manager Direct reports: Assistant Welding Supervisor Location: This role is primarily based in the Al Quoz mainyard in Dubai although frequent travel to the other facilities/yard in Dubai and Abu Dhabi may be required based upon operational requirements. D. Job Dimensions Area of Impact: Quantifiable (small) Nature of Impact: Indirect (shared) E. Job Specifications 1. Qualification, Knowledge, Experience a) Academic Qualification and Professional Qualification Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Additional qualification / certifications in Welding. b) Experience (minimum preferred) Minimum 10 years experience out of which 4 to 5 years as a Supervisor / Foreman. 2. Technical Requirements Basic Knowledge of MS office packages. Experience in ERP system will be an advantage Thorough knowledge of all relevant welding trade practices, welding codes (AWS, ASME, API) etc. tools, equipment and materials. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English. Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, vendor data, QA documents (welding procedure specifications, welders list etc) and the like. Ability to organize and control materials for the job in hand. 3. Key Competencies Ability to get along well with different people.
