When I first started as a coach I skipped reading personal - TopicsExpress

When I first started as a coach I skipped reading personal development. I figured out of ALL the things that needed to get done that reading was the LEAST important. I needed to be emailing, and prospecting, and posting, and talking. WRONG! When I finally LISTENED to all the successful leaders out there who claimed that personal development was the KEY to success and read my first book, my business began to CHANGE. Personal development is about so much more than just the topic its discussing. It CHANGES your mindset. You begin viewing things differently. You begin to speak differently, think differently. It is truly a foundation for how you will act as a not only a business owner, but as a leader. It helps you more effectively run your family, and your life in general. It is THE area that should NOT be skipped. 10 minutes a day is Beachbody’s suggestion…are you telling me you can’t find TEN MINUTES out of your day??? There are 1440 minutes in a day. 10 minutes is all you need. You can even LISTEN to your personal development instead of READ it. But its another NON-NEGOTIABLE. So where do you begin? There are so many books out there, all with great messages, purpose, and intention. There are MANY choices, so this list is not an end all be all, rather my suggestions of a great place to start. 1. The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy— we live in such a microwave society. We want things fast and ready and we want it NOW! We are quick to throw in the towel when things don’t go our way immediately…when if we would have just stuck it out a little longer, all the magic we were waiting for would have happened. Would you choose a million dollars or a penny doubled every day for 30 days? Most people would choose the million…its quick, its easy, they want it now. However, when you add penny doubled every day for 30 days, the total is 5.3 million dollars. On day 17 you are still only at 700 dollars, so things aren’t looking to good. But …the compound effect really starts to kick in. We need this principle in our business if we are not going to give up and we are going to press on! 2. Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell—why are we so hard wired to be afraid to fail? EVERY successful person in this world has FAILED their way to success. Failure isn’t a reason to give up, yet rather a reason to PRESS ON! If I think of all the things I have done wrong in my life or failed at, I am followed by an even greater list of accomplishments, because every failure was a test…a trial, an experiment in to what will work and what will create success for me. 3. First Steps to Wealth by Dani Johnson—I will tell you that I don’t re-read many books, but I have read this book more than once. This is a first hand account of how someone went from homeless to millionaire. There are practical STEPS you can follow that will lay out what you NEED to do in order to run a successful business. What is even better is that she will provide this book to you FREE! all you have to do is pay shipping and handling. Go here to access that deal and start reading TODAY! danijohnson/offers/solutions/first-steps-to-wealth/ 4. Go Pro by Eric Worre—a lot of people think they can’t do a multilevel marketing business because they aren’t a salesperson. Guess what. ME EITHER! My degree is in elementary education…fractions and craft projects. I was no more ready to run an empire than I was ready to lead the country…but through books like this, I learned CRITICAL steps to becoming a network marketing professional. This book is definitely a HOW TO in network marketing and will change the way you run your business. 5. Eat that Frog by Brian Tracy—in a previous post I shared with you some keys to managing your time more effectively. That is EXACTLY what this book provides for you. If you want to stop using time as an excuse, then you will pick up this book. You will EAT THAT FROG…your big task for the day instead of accomplishing the easier things off your to do list. #businessweek #personaldevelopment
