While S., the collaborative metafiction project by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst, will hit shelves Oct. 29, 826NYC and Mulholland Books plans to continue the discussion with an evening of discussion and book signing! Hostel by Leah Dunham, of Girls, with introductions by Sarah Vowell – author of such nonfiction as The Wordy Shipmates and Unfamiliar Fishes – the event will take place on November 23rd at Symphony Space, as part of their Thalia Book Club series. Abrams is the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning producer, director, and creator of such shows as Lost, Alias, and Felicity and films includingStar Trek, Super 8, Cloverfield, and Mission: Impossible. Dorst is an PEN/Hemingway and Shirley Jackson Award nominee, and the writer of the novel Alive in Necropolis and The Surf Guru, a collection of short stories. Tickets, issued on a first-come, first-served basis, are $25 for the general public, $21 for members, and $15 for those under 30 (with I.D.), and can be purchased here: symphonyspace.org/event/8155/Literature/thalia-book-club-jj-abrams-doug-dorst-s-a-novel.
