With part one of their Pacific Partnership 2013 mission successfully complete, the Royal New Zealand Navy specialist dive vessel HMNZS MANAWANUI departed Solomon Islands on 8/9 July, sailing to Kiribati to join Pacific Partnership initiatives there later this month. The Commanding Officer, LTCDR Kerry Driver explains, “Our mission in Kiribati is to support two Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Teams in the safe disposal of explosive remnants of war. “One team comprises seven personnel from the United States Navy EOD Mobile Team One, and the other team comprises seven personnel from the New Zealand EOD Squadron, including members of all three services. “HMNZS MANAWANUI will support both teams logistically with accommodation, fuel, transport, and food."
