Wow. I have scrolled through some pretty hateful remarks about Robin Williams these last couple of days. People can say what they want, that is what is great about the first amendment, but Im baffled at the lack of empathy within my own friends. People dont kill themselves because they desire to leave their loved ones hurting and longing for an answer, they do it because they have something mentally debilitating them so badly that they cant overcome the pits of hell they have found themselves in and leaving this life behind becomes the only logical answer to them. By reading some of the hurtful things people are saying I can see where if those were the people around him during that time they would have pushed him over the edge. Why push someone down rather than catching them when they fall and building each other up. Its easier to pull someone from a high chair than to push them up there. Try taking the road less traveled and see how building someone else up may build you up at the same time. Thousands of people kill themselves each day and of the ones who are successful there are an estimated twenty times that many who tried and failed. This time. A simple smile, positive gesture or unexpected compliment could save someones life. If nothing else be empathetic instead of pathetic.
