Yesterday, as I sat outside, waiting for the hummingbird to appear - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, as I sat outside, waiting for the hummingbird to appear so I could try to get a decent photo, my arms got so tired, they were aching, and after a while, I let my arms down to take a break. Well, wouldn’t you know it, that is when the hummingbird showed up, and by the time I got the camera back up and tried to focus, he was gone. So I started all over again, sitting as still as could be, waiting, watching, hoping he would appear again. As I sat there waiting, I was distracted by a noise in the woods, which turned out to be the deer, and wouldn’t you know it, here came the hummingbird, and once again I wasn’t ready and I missed that perfect shot. And in that moment, this popped in my head…Matthew 24:42 “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” And Matthew 24:44 “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Kind of like that hummingbird… he came, and I wasn’t ready. What a lesson! Twice I had missed out on the “prize” by either being tired, or being distracted. Satan works hard to distract us, to keep us from fixing our eyes and our focus on Jesus, and sometimes we just get tired, we grow weary, and we let down our guard. Don’t let distraction or weariness make you miss the prize. Stay alert and focused, and persevere. I finally did get my prize, captured three half-way decent photos of that hummingbird, but even more so than that hummingbird photo, I am looking forward to my ultimate prize – being at home in heaven with my Lord and Saviour one day! See, God does speak, even through hummingbirds!
