Zambia Test Bafana in Friendly Zambia will today have a first taste of warm up action ahead of the Africa Cup when they face South Africa in an international friendly match billed for Orlando Stadium. Coach Honour Janza will use the match to test his armoury after a full week of training at the University of Johannesburg ground. Janza has since named TP Mazembe and midfield genius Rainford Kalaba as skipper taking over from Stoppilla Sunzu who has stepped down from his position. The match will be the two sides’ warm up matches as they count down to the Equatorial Guinea showdown. Janza will have the opportunity to shape up a working formula for the tournament with some eyes focussed on the backline that has been a source of concern. There could be insight on who will be favoured to take the commanding central defence spot where Sunzu who has returned from an injury may not be expected to immediately tune up may be joined by either Kondwani Mtonga of Christopher Munthali. Nkana midfielder Donashano Malama may be allowed to occupy the rightback position where he could be in direct competition with Davies Nkausu. Deputy skipper Nathan Sinkala who has of late been feeding off his reputation will take up the holding role where he may be teamed up the fluidity of either Chisamba Lungu or Lubambo Musonda. There could be some action for Mukuka Mulenga who missed out on the qualifiers following a delicate recovery process from a long injury lay off. Upfront there could be a hint at what partnership Zambia may rely on with Emmanuel Mayuka, Given Singuluma and Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba in line to grab the starter role. It could also be an opportunity to throw in some locals who are knocking hard in the starting 11 with a chance to gate crash the Africa Cup party. Janza’s record Sudan 3-1 HOME win (international friendly) Mozambique 0-0 HOME draw (Africa Cup qualifier) Cape Verde 1-2 AWAY loss (Africa Cup qualifier) Niger 0-0 AWAY draw (Africa Cup qualifier) Niger 3-0 HOME win (Africa Cup qualifier) Cote d’Ivore 1-1 HOME draw Mozambique 1-0 AWAY win (Africa Cup qualifier) Zambia 1-Cape Verde 0 HOME win (Africa Cup qualifier)
